Getting Away with Murder By Roy Beasley Polls indicate that most Americans believe that O.J. Simpson with his lawyer "dream?team" in the famous murder trial of his wife, simply got away with murder ? slick as you please. But, that's nothing new. Getting away with murder happens all the time ? every day many times a day. It happens every time there is an abortion. Murder is the taking of human life. The Bible clearly teaches that life begins, not at birth, but at the time of conception. Isaiah 44:24 says that the Lord "formed thee from the womb In Job 31:15, Job asked, "Did not one fashion us in the womb?" God told Jeremiah, "Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb, I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations." (Jer. 1:5) Abortion has become a national disgrace. Since 1776, more than 1.25 million American soldiers have been killed in wars. But, this pales in comparison to the war on the unborn! Since 1973, over 28 million unborn babies have lost their lives to legalized abortion ? over twenty?two times as many as have been killed in our nation's wars. It staggers the imagination. Start in the state of Texas, for example, and remove one person for every baby that has been aborted for the past nineteen years, and no one would be left in the states of Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana. If the same demonstration was performed on the East Coast, it would empty the whole states of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. On the West Coast, it would completely evacuate all of California, Oregon and the majority of Washington state. Most abortion clinics dispose of the lifeless bodies of the unborn by dumping them into trash cans or garbage incinerators. No memorial! No funeral! No gravestone! What if they all had graves? One writer suggested a small grave for each aborted baby. Why not? We have pet cemeteries. Why not do it for the unborn? This not an unreasonable suggestion. The state of Minnesota passed a law requiring hospitals and clinics to arrange decent burials for the human remains. What if we did have a cemetery for 28 million aborted babies Such a cemetery would cover 45 miles square. At 55 miles per hour, it would take over 3.45 hours just to drive around the perimeters of this massive graveyard. These graves placed side by side in a straight line would reach from New York City to Los Angeles seven times! Jesus warned: "Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, that in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven." (Matt. 18:10) |
